Steve Brady and Larry Weber undertook a personal challenge in 1999 to develop a method to address a missing link in observatory automation, namely automated telescopefocusing. After more than a year of dedicated work, FocusMax was born and a decision was made to share this tool with the astronomy community. FocusMax has evolved significantly with many new features based on user input. The purpose of this workshop is to explore the many options that FocusMax provides the astro-imager, how to configure FocusMax for optimum performance and to share tips and ideas. Steve will also give a quick tour of the next major release with many new, much anticipated features.
设置：
1)确定调焦方向和回差补偿：采用Jog，选较大的步数进行旋转，看调焦座的运动方向，优选“拉”的方向，这样不会因为重力有移动。
2)设置好曝光时间：基准曝光可以设为0.5s，最大5s,最小0.1s; 调焦方式采用HFD，勾选Convergence,CCD区域选择75%;勾选Return to start position.
3)用鱼骨板进行初步调焦，然后选取一颗4~6等星，运行First Night，HFD取40左右，做一次曲线。
4)然后自动调焦，正式做曲线，可以把步长调整为30~50步(在End Points调整move incr然后再选择Half width就会自动更新步数)；可以在作曲线是勾选Autofocus，这样做一次曲线就自动调焦，这样曲线左右的对称性较好。
5)删除第一次的曲线，看后面的曲线质量，去除Good Point比较少的，一般3~5条曲线就满足精度要求。
